The Bourbon variety from Finca El Valle is grown high in the mountains near the El Agua Volcano in Antigua at nearly 1600 meters. Following the harvest, the coffee cherries are washed and processed on the farm. The Gonzalez family, producers of Finca El Valle are a PT's Coffee Direct Trade Partner.
The Story
Cristina González with her husband and 3 sons manage the day-to-day operations at Finca El Valle. Organization is at a premium at El Valle and everyone is treated as family. From the pickers to the full-time employees, it’s a family run business with a tremendous amount of pride and love poured into their efforts. One thing that was apparent when we first visited the farm, was their initiatives involving social and environmental responsibility.
We just received a 92 point review for our roast of Finca El Valle on Coffee Review. Ken Davids had this to say about our roast, "Blind Assessment: Crisp, nut-toned chocolate and raisiny fruit in aroma and cup. A touch of citrus. Soft but lively acidity; silky mouthfeel. Deep, gently flavor saturated finish."
