Yellow Reserve is a special harvest, single estate blend of Yellow Bourbon and Yellow Caturra varietals grown near 5900 feet at Finca El Socorro. With only the ripest cherries being picked, the coffee went through multiple rounds of sorting under farm owner Juan Diego De La Cerda's instruction. The result of this meticulous process has resulted in an exquisite cup that was recognized by the international judges in the 2013 Guatemala Cup of Excellence with a 4th Place finish.
Diego has gone to great lengths to produce consistently high quality coffees. Located near Palencia, Guatemala, the region benefits from the rich volcanic soils and the ideal micro-climate for producing a great coffee.
Quality is the highest priority at Finca El Socorro. The farm goes to great lengths to ensure they are producing coffee in an environmentally sustainable manner. A separate micro-lot from El Socorro received 2nd place in the 2012 Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition. In 2011 they received 1st place in the Guatemala COE competition. Finca El Socorro continues to build its reputation as one of the elite farms in all of Central America.
This lightly roasted coffee features a rich brown sugar aroma. When brewed, it has a creamy body, a note of milk chocolate, golden raisin sweetness, and juicy acidity. The finish is complex with a flavor of starfruit and a gentle note of vanilla.
